Pupuseria La Estrella

La Estrella is a renowned restaurant nestled in the charming city of Greenville, South Carolina. This beloved dining establishment is celebrated for its delectable Salvadoran cuisine, which has captivated the taste buds of patrons for countless years.
Following a period of remarkable prosperity and expansion, the restaurant made the strategic decision to revamp its logo and overall branding to exude a more inviting and family-oriented vibe.
In pursuit of this objective, the proprietors enlisted the expertise of OChena Design to craft a fresh brand identity that would effectively encapsulate the restaurant’s distinctive essence and culinary offerings.

To start the process, I conducted extensive research on similar restaurants and analyzed the most popular food items sold at La Estrella. Based on the findings, I decided to create characters that would resonate with customers and inspire them to dine out more frequently. After discovering that Pupusas, a traditional Salvadoran dish, was the most popular menu item, the designer decided to feature it as the central character. To accompany the Pupusa, two additional characters were created; one represented by a a traditional Salvadorian hot sauce bag, and the other by a traditional Salvadorian cabbage jar.

Over the course of several days, I dedicated long hours to meticulously crafting numerous drafts in order to perfect the design.
My primary goal was to develop a visually striking design that would effectively capture the essence of the restaurant’s unique branding and overall aesthetic. Following the completion of the final design, it was utilized to produce a wide array of materials such as menus, signage, business cards, flyers, and various other essential assets for the restaurant.
Thanks to the new branding and captivating imagery, patrons visiting the restaurant have been delighted by the fresh look and feel, a response that has resonated positively with both loyal customers and newcomers alike.
